Host-to-host integration: connecting corporate ERPs to your bank
Large corporates want their ERP to talk to their bank directly. Here is what a host-to-host channel needs to get right.
For large corporates, a portal is not always the right channel. Their payments, invoices and purchase orders already live in an ERP. Re-keying them into a bank portal adds cost and risk.
A host-to-host (H2H) channel connects the corporate’s ERP directly to the bank’s services.
What a good H2H channel needs
- Flexible transport. FTP and SFTP, message queues and REST or SOAP APIs, all secured.
- Bring your own format. Every ERP produces data differently. The bank should transform it to its canonical model, not ask the client to change their system.
- Bulk processing. High volumes of payments, invoices and collection data, picked up and processed as soon as they arrive.
- Reverse feeds. Status and errors flow back to the originating system so the client can reconcile, correct and resubmit.
- Approvals and controls. Files still respect mandates and approval rules.
Why it matters
H2H turns the bank into part of the client’s finance process. That makes the relationship stickier and the operations cheaper for both sides.
